Journal of school building Daoming n.2 (Zhangpojiao) - 3
After two research visits to Zhangpojiao, SP Edify (St. Paul School Fund for Educational Infraestructure in Yunan) decided to build a primary school and two water tanks in this town. The works are being carried out at this time.
To build a school is not difficult, but doing it in a place without water, without electricity, without roads and in a mountain area is something else, and you can imagine the difficulties. To ensure the quality of construction, we decided to build it with bricks (the school will be the only brick building in the village). The people could not believe their eyes, as they only expected a simple building to protect children from the harsh wind and rain.
In order to solve the difficulties of construction, I convened a meeting with the all the villagers, asking them to contribute their work and to complete the construction as soon as possible. They have contributed with everything they are and with everything they have.
When we see the construction site, we see carts pulled by oxen and carts pushed by people, people working, making your the deep holes of the water tanks, bringing the water needed for construction bucket by bucket from several miles away. You can not hear any excavator o neumatic machines, only all the people in the village working quietly.
Zhangpojiao is located in a very secluded place with steep slopes and slippery roads. The transport of materials is the major cost of the entire project. When it rains, transportation is simply impossible. These are the circumstances in which the project is being done. Very soon the school will have a roof, and we will all feel much more satisfied.
