Testimony from a Saint Paul School Primary Section student
I am Lu Guowei from Class 6E. On 25 September 2006 the school’s chief administrator, Mr Jose A. Lopez Legido, brought me to Yunnan, China to visit the poverty-stricken families in the mountainous region. After this activity, I was given a very fulfilling experience. This is because, before I went to the Yunnan mountainous place, I have always heard Fr Legido say that the living environment there is extremely terrible.
On the day when the group of us arrived at the mountainous place, we saw that the place the local children were living in was really extremely bad. There wasn’t even a proper place for studying, and the medical facilities were not hygienic. When I saw all this, in my heart I felt very upset. This is why, when I returned to school, I decided to share the situation I saw with my classmates; with the hope that my classmates will be able to make some effort to help them.
Lastly, I am very thankful to the school for giving me the chance to go to the Yunnan mountainous region to personally experience the living conditions of the local children.
